Seventeen Years Later: Flashtech Lighting’s Forward-Facing LED Halo Ring Timeline

From initial concept to today’s expansive lineup, Flashtech Lighting has driven LED halo technology through a series of landmark milestones since 2008.

Origins: Development & Release (2008–2009)

The first forward-facing LED halo rings were prototyped in late 2008 and officially launched to the aftermarket in early 2009. By projecting LEDs outward, Flashtech’s design delivered a dramatic boost in brightness over CCFL and fiber-optic systems.

Reliability Breakthrough: External LED Driver (2011)

In 2011, Flashtech addressed resistor-pack failures by introducing the industry’s first external LED driver—housed in a sealed, weatherproof aluminum enclosure with plug-and-play connectors and high-temperature components—greatly improving durability and serviceability.

V3 Fusion RGB Driver Introduced (2013)

Building on the external-driver platform, Flashtech launched its V3 Fusion RGB halo driver in 2013, enabling full-color RGB halos with simplified wiring and robust performance—a foundation still in use today.

Waterproof RGB Halo Kits (2015)

In 2015, Flashtech released its first fully waterproof RGB halo kits, combining vibrant color-changing effects with IP69K-rated enclosures for complete protection in any environment.

ColorChase Halos Launched (2017)

The introduction of ColorChase halos in 2017 added dynamic chase patterns and mobile-app control, cementing Flashtech’s leadership in both form and function.

Waterproof Switchback Halos (2019)

In 2019, Flashtech expanded its lineup with waterproof switchback halo rings, delivering seamless white-to-amber turn-signal functionality while maintaining full halo brightness and reliability.

Product Range Expansion (2025)

As of 2025, Flashtech offers over 5,500 unique halo kit SKUs covering hundreds of vehicle makes and models—underscoring nearly two decades of continuous innovation.
